Costs and Duration Tape Extensions

How much do tape-in extensions cost? In the UK you can expect to pay roughly £150 to £500 for a full set fitted at a salon, while the hair itself costs from around 29 to 50 euros per pack in our shop. This guide explains what drives tape extension costs, how salon prices compare to buying online, and how long your tape-ins will last.

1. How much do tape-in extensions cost?

The total cost of tape-in extensions depends on quality, quantity and length. Because this is a long-term method, it costs more than temporary clip-in hair. Premium tape hair costs an average of 40 - 50 euros per pack (10 strands) in our shop – before any fitting fee.

  • Premium tape hair (40 cm / 16 inch): approx. 29 euros per pack
  • Premium tape hair (60 cm / 24 inch): approx. 50 euros per pack

You can see the current range and prices on our tape-in extensions page.

2. What do tape extensions cost at a salon?

At a salon, fitting costs typically run between 7 and 10 euros per strand, which puts a professional full head somewhere between 150 and 500 euros (roughly £130 - £430). To keep the cost down, you can buy your tape hair online and have it fitted professionally, then move the tapes up yourself later with the help of a friend.

3. How much does hair thickening with tapes cost?

Thickening is the ideal solution for more fullness and usually costs less than a full extension, because fewer strands are needed. Tapes also fit quickly, so labour costs are lower than for bondings. Thickening with 40 cm (16 inch) tapes costs roughly 150 to 200 euros at a salon. Read more in our guide on hair extensions for volume.

4. How many packs do I need for thin hair?

Tapes achieve beautiful results, especially with fine hair. Because each tape is about 4 cm wide, you generally need fewer strands than with bondings:

  • Hair thickening: 2 to 3 packs
  • Full hair extension: 4 to 5 packs

5. How long do tape-in extensions last?

Correctly fitted tapes last about 6 to 8 weeks before they need moving up. High-quality Remy hair can be re-taped several times if you look after it. Use silicone-free products and a special extension brush to maximise longevity – see our guide on how to care for hair extensions.

6. How often do tape-ins need moving up?

As soon as the tapes become visible, they should be moved up. You can save money by removing them yourself with a special tape remover. You only need replacement tapes and a little patience when cleaning the adhesive points.

7. Are cheap tapes worth it?

Since 2012 we have offered premium human hair at fair prices. Cheap synthetic hair may look tempting, but it cannot be heat-styled or reused. Healthy Remy quality falls naturally and can be moved up several times, which is what makes the higher initial cost pay off.

Great tapes

I am very satisfied, ordered yesterday, arrived today. I'm just testing them, my hair is great. My 11-year-old daughter put 10 tabs in for me; it was clearly difficult for her, but I am very satisfied.

Love these extensions

I've been a customer for years and this is my second time buying the black, straight ones. I'm very satisfied! I used to always buy the straight ones in burgundy, and those were great too!
