1. What exactly are tape in hair extensions?
Tape in hair extensions are human hair extensions that are attached to your natural hair using thin adhesive strips. Unlike other methods such as bonding extensions, no heat is required. The tapes are applied using the sandwich method – two strips are pressed together around a thin section of your own hair, creating a semi-permanent, flat bond that sits close to the scalp.
2. What makes hair2heart tape-ins special?
Our tape in extensions are made from real human hair and therefore look exceptionally natural. They blend seamlessly with your own hair, lie very flat against the head, are comfortable to wear, and can be applied relatively quickly.
You can order hair2heart tape in hair extensions in two quality levels: Standard Quality is the more affordable option, while Premium Quality uses exclusively Indian Remy human hair. In both cases, only human hair without a silicone coating is used – available in lengths of 40 cm (16"), 50 cm (20") and 60 cm (24").
3. Which hair types are tape in extensions suitable for?
Tape in hair extensions are suitable for virtually every hair type. Even if you have thin or fine hair, the wide adhesive strips distribute weight evenly across the hair root, placing very little stress on your natural hair. This means you can achieve an impressive, full look even with fine hair. And yes – a voluminous ponytail is absolutely possible with tape-in extensions too.
4. How many tape extensions do you need?
For hair thickening, 20–30 tapes are usually enough (sometimes even 10). For a full hair lengthening, expect approximately 40–50 tapes. If you only need volume in specific areas – around the temples or crown, for example – our mini tape in hair extensions are the perfect choice, as their smaller adhesive area (1 cm × 0.7 cm) blends discreetly even in tricky spots.
Tip: The exact number depends on your hair structure. We recommend ordering one extra pack if in doubt – unopened packs can easily be returned.
5. What accessories do you need?
Since our tapes come pre-applied, you can start working them in straight away. All you need is a tail comb and sectioning clips to part your hair precisely while setting the tapes. Everything you need – including replacement tape for reuse – is available in our tape extension accessories.
6. How long do tape in extensions last?
Since tape in extensions are applied near the roots, they grow out with your natural hair. Depending on hair growth, they need to be removed after approximately 6–8 weeks, fitted with new replacement tape, and repositioned.
7. Are tape in hair extensions visible?
No – when applied correctly, tape in extensions are virtually invisible. The flat attachment points lie close to the head and create a particularly natural look. For an even more discreet result, our invisible tape hair extensions use an ultra-thin, transparent adhesive strip that disappears completely under your top hair.
8. How to wash and care for tape-in extensions
Since human hair extensions are no longer nourished by the scalp, they need extra care. Use a dedicated extension shampoo and conditioner from our care range and brush with a special extensions brush without nubs.
Important: Before application, make sure your natural hair is completely free of oil and styling residue (use a clarifying shampoo). After fitting, do not wash your hair for 48 hours to allow the adhesive to cure properly.
9. Which hairstyles work with tape extensions?
Ponytail, bun, messy bun or elegant braided styles – everything is possible! Because the tapes are flat, they can be easily hidden under the top layer of hair. Just be careful not to pull sharply on the attachment points when styling.
10. Can tape in extensions be reused?
Yes! With proper care, Standard Quality hair lasts up to 3 months, and Premium Remy tape in hair extensions last 3–6 months. Simply apply new replacement tape and reposition them – it's that easy.
11. Good to know: Mini Tape & Invisible Tape
Our extensions are Single Drawn, meaning they have natural tapered ends that fall more naturally and integrate perfectly with your own hair. Beyond our classic tape-ins, we also offer two specialist products: mini tape in hair extensions with a tiny 1 cm adhesive area – ideal for fine hair, temples and hairline areas – and invisible tape hair extensions with a transparent strip for maximum discretion.
