1. Can you make hair extensions yourself?
This question cannot be answered in general terms. It depends on the type you want to make. With clip-in extensions, it is not particularly complicated even for beginners.
Important note: We do not recommend making nanoring, bonding, or tape extensions yourself. The technical production is complex and carries risks for your natural hair. It is better to rely on finished quality products here.
2. How can you make extensions yourself?
Clip-ins are ideal for transforming your hair into a beautiful mane for a few hours. To make these extensions yourself, you purchase high-quality human hair wefts and attach clips to them. Hair2heart wefts made from premium Remy hair are perfectly processed and provide the ideal base for a natural result.

To illustrate the process, we’ve created a video for you. Here you can see how to quickly and easily create your own clip-in extensions.
Tip: If you sew the wefts double, you can mix two colors for a beautiful highlighted effect.
3. What do you need for DIY extensions?
With hair2heart human hair wefts and the right clip-in accessories from our shop, the DIY extension project is no problem. You will need:
- Human hair wefts (correct length & color)
- Replacement clips
- Sewing needle and thread
- A good pair of scissors
- Optional: super glue for sealing
- Cut wefts to the desired width.
- Seal the seams with super glue.
- Layer hair sections for more volume and sew them together.
- Sew clips (left, right, middle) onto the rubberized side of the weft.
- Secure thread ends carefully with knots.
4. How much do you save by making them yourself?
If you invest in high-quality Remy human hair wefts, costs range between 65 and 190 euros per pack. Including accessories and the required time, the savings compared to a ready-made clip-in set are often smaller than expected. If you are unsure about making them yourself, we recommend buying a ready-made set for a guaranteed perfect finish.
5. Making extensions yourself – conclusion
It is absolutely possible to make clip-ins yourself. High-quality wefts in the right color are essential for a natural look.
